I have always enjoyed the story of Alice in Wonderland and going down the rabbit hole with her. This is the second Alice painting I have done. This being inspired by my son's senior play where he was the Cheshire Cat. After his play I decided to make a painting based on the original pen and ink drawing that Sir John Tenniel illustrated back in the 1850's I believe it was.
My daughter at the time was 13 years old. Growing up I could remember this really gnarly looking tree that we used to play around and after finding that I had known the owners, they allowed me to take some pictures of my daughter by this tree. Using my daughter by my friend's gnarly tree, and my imagination I envisioned and created the imaginary dream-world of Wonderland in vivid color that you see here.
